• Minimum age for towing a child trailer: In Germany, persons must be at least 16 years old. In Austria, there is no fixed minimum age, but sufficient road experience is recommended.

• Helmet requirement for children: Children under 12 years must wear a helmet.

• Road usage: Cycle paths must be used if available. Pavements may only be used if officially permitted.

• Maximum speed: Maximum speed of 25 km/h when riding with a trailer. In curves, no faster than walking speed.

• Technical requirements for trailers: An independent lighting system, reflectors, and a secure coupling are required. The trailer must be single-axle, and the connection must not cause tipping.
